Environment
EnQuest has a responsibility to minimize our environmental footprint and to provide environmental protection. The integration of these objectives into the design of our facilities and standard operating procedures provides the ability to minimize the affect of our operations on the environment and to meet or exceed regulatory standards.
Leadership
We recognize and support our employees for their leadership and efforts, at both work and at home, for caring about the environment, being conscious about the decisions they make and adjusting their lifestyles in order to create a beneficial result.
Reduce Consumption
Furthermore, as a result of the financial benefits associated with investing in environmental conservation and protection, these items are key components of our operating plan. Some of the measures we employ to reduce consumption include using energy efficient equipment and appliances, eco friendly fuels and operating efficiently. We are constantly evaluating new technology and processes which will be beneficial to reduce consumption. As an example, the use of synthetic engine oil has reduced our oil consumption by 40% and our diesel engines operate more efficiently. In addition, the oil is purchased in bulk whereby eliminating the need for containers.
Greenhouse Gas Emissions
In addition to our internal efforts to reduce emissions, we work with our customers and suppliers to create further reductions. This is the case with our partnership with the railroad. It is three times more energy efficient than trucks to transport highly dense materials and equipment over long distances. Many of our facilities interface with the railway to provide transload, materials handling and regional delivery services.
Recycle
Many of our operating businesses have had active recycling programs. Some of the materials we recycle include:
- Batteries
- Computers and electronic equipment
- Metal
- Oils, lubricants and glycol
- Oil filters and containers
- Paper
- Tires
